Options for QR Codes Explained
QR codes offer several customizable options to enhance their functionality and aesthetics. Here's a breakdown of some key options:
Correct Level
Error Correction Capacity: QR codes can be generated with different levels of error correction, allowing them to be scanned even if they are partially damaged. The levels are: L (Low): 7% of codewords can be restored. M (Medium): 15% of codewords can be restored. Q (Quartile): 25% of codewords can be restored. H (High): 30% of codewords can be restored.
Color
DarkZone and LightZone: You can customize the colors of the QR code to match branding or design preferences. Ensure there's enough contrast between the dark and light zones for readability. DarkZone: Typically black, but can be any dark color. LightZone: Usually white or a light color, serving as the background.
Dot Scale
Refers to the size of the individual dots (or squares) that make up the QR code. A larger dot scale increases the overall size of the QR code, which can be useful for readability at a distance. Dot Scale Range (80-100%)
Quiet Zone
This is the margin area around the QR code. It's recommended to have a quiet zone equivalent to at least four times the size of a single module (dot) to ensure scanners can easily distinguish the QR code from its surroundings.
Logo Image
You can embed a logo or image in the center of the QR code to increase brand recognition. Ensure the logo doesn't cover more than 30% of the QR code to maintain scannability.
Logo URL
Instead of embedding an image directly, some QR codes can be designed to link to a logo or image hosted online. This approach keeps the QR code itself simpler and less cluttered. These options allow QR codes to be versatile tools for information sharing and branding. When designing a QR code, it's important to balance customization with readability to ensure the code can be scanned by as many devices as possible.
Filename Prefix
Add a prefix to the QR image file based on a values from a specific column.
